The Plan:
Sing/play: Jingle Bell Rock (Alvin and the Chipmunks CD) with jingle bells
Sing: If You’re Ready for a Story
Read: No Two Alike
Introduce Olivia, the snowy owl and talk about snowy owls
Talk: Owl Action Rhyme (that starts, “There’s a wide-eyed owl…”)
Sing/play: Frosty the Snowman (Alvin and Chipmunks again) with jingle bells
Read: The Jacket I Wear in the Snow with flannelboard
Play: Over the River and Through the Woods (Alvin and the Chipmunks) with parachute, lifting it like a tunnel and letting them run and play underneath.
Read: Snowflakes (a non-fiction title)
Adjourn for playtime with the flannelboard and puppets.
The Reality:
This mostly went off without a hitch. I noticed that the kids got a little bit bored with The Jacket, but not terribly so. The kiddos loved the parachute so much that we played it twice. I’ll probably repeat exactly tomorrow.
